Many couples who are in desperate need of counseling in hopes of saving their marriage may opt to stay away from it for some reason. Although it isn’t true in all cases, younger couples tend to benefit from counseling much better since they haven’t had enough time to grow that far apart as an older couple would have. In addition, both members of the partnership need to be willing to cooperate with the counselor and each other if real progress is going to be made.
